# Peppol Message Level Status v1.0
MLS XML messages are technical status messages exchanged between service providers within the Peppol network. Their primary purpose is to communicate processing and delivery status information related to document exchange.
Downloading the XML is not required, as the PSB processes incoming MLS messages and delivers the content via webhook. Uploading is also not required; outgoing responses must be sent using the Generic Response API.
